"Chris and I just looked at the photos. They are absolutely magical! What an incredible gift to be able to see all of those moments after the fact. We will never be able to thank you enough." – Sarah
I met Sarah at a birthday party. Our little one’s played and the conversation quickly turned to her current pregnancy and upcoming birth. We chatted about her first birth experience with their daughter Sofia, my birth experience with Jake, and how those experiences are shaping our future birth plans. I never expected to become such a birth nerd (and chat openly about it with strangers), but it's true that birth will affect you in ways you never expected. If you have any questions about documenting your upcoming birth, I'd love to chat. And I promise not to share about my birth experience unless you'd really like to know.
At 6am on April 29th, I got THE call that her water broke and they were on the way to the hospital. During this day together, it was so moving to watch Sarah labor and get to witness her interactions with Chris and her sister, Justine. Everything about Sarah's presence was unexpectedly soothing - her voice, her breathing, her music selection - it filled the room with a sense of comfort. One of my favorite things from the day is Chris's shirt. Sarah explained, "Chris wore this same shirt when Sofia was born. When I saw him wearing it today, I cried." I love to encourage birth photography not just for mom and the baby, but also to capture dad. Chris's support - in his t-shirt, little words of encouragement, and even applying her chapstick - could have been easily forgotten.
Thirteen hours and twenty minutes later, Enzo entered their world. I can’t say enough good things about Sarah, Chris, Justine, or the medical staff from this day. The love and support that they poured into Sarah was truly amazing to witness. And Sarah, she was just inspiring.
Enzo, Happy Birthday little buddy. I'm so thankful to have been a part of your day. You have the best family. S + C - I love you! I know it took courage to welcome me into to this intimate space and trust me with these moments. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I think music adds to the magic. If you'd prefer to scroll through a slide show, you can view some of their birth photos in the gallery.
